Dr. Yong Yoong Soon Recognized as Professional Technologist by MBOT

The Laboratory Center congratulates Ts. Dr. Yong Yoong Soon (Dr. YS) from Chemistry Division who has been recognized as Professional Technologist by Malaysia Board of Technologist (MBOT) based on his expertise and experiences.

Dr. YS joined Xiamen University Malaysia in June 2019 and currently serving as Laboratory Officer in Chemistry Division, Laboratory Center. With less than 5 years of experience after graduated with PhD from Universiti Malaysia Sabah, he has acquired more than 300 citations from 15 publications, including one recently published in Scientific Reports (https://www.nature.com/articles/s41598-020-79094-4).

Malaysia Board of Technologists (MBOT) is a professional body that gives Professional Recognition to Technologists and Technicians in related technology and technical fields via Technologists & Technicians Act 2015 (Act 768). Based on Act 768, MBOT expands its function vertically and horizontally whereby MBOT looks at technology-based profession that cuts across discipline based from conceptual design to a realized technology and covers from Technicians (with SKM/Diploma Level) up to Technologists (Bachelor’s Degree level and above). As a whole, these professionals (Technologists and Technicians) have integrated roles from concept to reality.
